(CO-ED) BJJ FUNDAMENTALS

Although it is not required (it is possible to get to blue belt without taking this class, however this class is recommended because it will get the student confidently prepared for the blue belt test), it is recommended that all new students consider taking this class along side any other classes that you plan to take weekly. Why? Because this class covers all of the basics of Gracie Jiu-jitsu and all of the requirements for a student to earn their first belt, the blue belt. If someone isn't interested in belts and just wants some basic self-defense, then this class is also for you. Just cycle thru the course one or two times (until you feel confident that you can defend yourself). For those who want more out of the class, continue on towards the blue belt...

FROM WHITE BELT TO BLUE BELT: This class will teach you everything you need to know to go from the white belt to the blue belt. This class covers the entire blue belt test curriculum. 17 classes in all. Each class covers 3 techniques for a total of 51 techniques. It is recommended that the student complete all 17 classes or lessons at least 3 times before attempting to take the blue belt test. Students must have trained for at least one year before taking the blue belt test.  Every student starts off at the white Belt. Each student must earn 4 stripes on their white belt before they are allowed to test for blue belt. It should take the student approx. 2 ½ months between each stripe, from white belt to blue.

***Open mat class hours are NOT counted towards any belt or stripe hours. This is class time set aside for YOU to train for yourself. The only exception is if, before open mat begins, you tell me that you're working/rolling specifically working on your "stripe" techniques and in that case, you will get credit hours for the open mat time.***Seminar hours count double hours if it’s a Groundworks Instructor.***Private lessons count double hours if it is about techniques that you are working for towards your next stripe, regardless of the belt color.
